A Finnish residence permit for studies generally requires admission to an eligible institution, sufficient funds and suitable insurance. Degree or vocational-qualification programmes can be relevant to adult applicants.
There is no single language rule for all programmes. Institutions set their own requirements. Spouses and children may apply on family-ties grounds, but each application and the family's total means of support are assessed separately.

01Is there an upper age limit?+
Vocational education also serves adult applicants. This does not mean every programme admits candidates regardless of age or educational background. The institution’s published admission requirements and Migri’s permit conditions must both be met.
02Can I apply without language skills?+
Language requirements vary. English-taught programmes may require evidence of English; Finnish- or Swedish-taught programmes may require the relevant local language.
03Can my family apply with me?+
Eligible spouses and minor children submit separate family-ties applications and must meet the applicable relationship, age and means-of-support conditions. A student's family application is not decided before the student's application. Coordinated preparation does not guarantee simultaneous decisions or arrival.
04Who provides this service?+
